The President devoted a significant part of his speech to the issues of the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, in particular, about the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence: Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that one of the important stages for forming a strategic vision for the deoccupation of Crimea is the holding of the Crimean Platform Summit on August 23.
“The first event aimed to deoccupy our Crimean peninsula. There will be many representatives of many countries. Important documents will be signed on this platform. There will be presidents, prime ministers, heads of churches of other countries. Speakers and foreign ministers are also invited. I think that in total about 30 countries will be represented”, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
As world leaders will arrive in Ukraine with their spouses, the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen launched by Ukraine will take place on this day.
“It will touch upon very important social issues that leaders usually do not raise, although they are very important”, the President said.
Commenting on the activities of the Crimean platform, the President noted that a permanent office will be organised, where lawyers, economists and other specialists will work to help Crimeans, in particular those in need of protection, and by the time of the summit the President expects the adoption of a number of important bills aimed at resolving the problems of the temporarily occupied Crimea, including indigenous peoples.
