Main news of the week:
▶ The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported a strike on the “Penzanefteprodukt” oil depot in the Penza region of the Russian Federation, as well as on an occupiers’ radar station in Crimea.
▶ Due to Russian indoctrination and militarization during childhood in Crimea, 318 natives of the peninsula became victims of occupation propaganda, fought against Ukraine, and were eliminated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
▶ On the night of August 21, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck a rolling stock of fuel and lubricants belonging to the Russian invaders near the Dzhankoi railway station in temporarily occupied Crimea.
▶ In the fourth quarter of 2025, the scale of political repression in temporarily occupied Crimea and Sevastopol grew to an unprecedented level, exceeding the average Russian figures by almost 4.9 times, whereas last year this gap was about 2.8 times, indicating a zone of extremely harsh repressive pressure. In particular, up to 88% of politically motivated criminal cases result in imprisonment, while in Russia, this figure was about 70% at the end of 2025.
Invaders’ crimes:
▶ As of January 19, the occupiers have illegally imprisoned 224 people, 133 of whom are Crimean Tatars.
▶ As of January 26, 2026, 1,672 cases have been recorded where materials drawn up under Art. 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation were submitted to so-called courts and other “competent authorities” in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea. In 1,542 cases, a decision was made to impose an administrative penalty in the form of a fine or the case was merged with another under a different article, resulting in a cumulative decision. In 17 cases, the review of materials is ongoing. By gender, 816 (53%) of the rulings were issued against women, and 724 (47%) against men.
▶ The wife of political prisoner Tofik Abdulgaziev reported a sharp deterioration in his health after he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor a month and a half ago. According to her, Abdulgaziev complained of impaired coordination and serious difficulty with movement, and later reported increased dizziness and a nosebleed.
▶ The wife of Crimean political prisoner Timur Yalkabov reported that the 45-year-old man, who was sentenced to 17 years in prison and transferred to correctional colony No. 17 in the Murmansk region, has been diagnosed with hepatitis. In addition, Timur Yalkabov has chronic asthma and a third-degree disability; he was transferred to the colony in the Murmansk region in April 2025.
Forcible conscription:
▶ At least 2,615 military personnel from Russian units stationed in Crimea have been killed. 1,400 of them are likely Ukrainian citizens.
▶ The capture of at least 125 Russian military personnel from Crimea has been confirmed. The majority are likely Ukrainian citizens.
Militarization of the Crimean Peninsula:
▶ Activists of the “Yellow Ribbon” movement joined an action for the Day of Unity of Ukraine, once again reminding that the temporarily occupied territories are an integral part of our state.
Propaganda of the occupying administrations and incitement to hostility:
▶ Russian propaganda is trying to mask the rising cost of living in temporarily occupied Crimea, in particular by using euphemisms from the Kremlin’s “newspeak.” In reports controlled by the RF about the increase in the cost of bottled gas for the population from January 1, 2026, there is no mention of price hikes; instead, prices are presented as having “changed,” “been updated,” or “been adjusted,” which is intended to create an illusion of stability.
The Mission continues to receive inquiries from Ukrainian citizens who want to leave Crimea because they cannot tolerate the occupation and total propaganda. We remind you of our instructions on how to leave temporarily occupied Crimea: https://cutt.ly/FwtiajlS
We thank the aware Ukrainian citizens in occupied Crimea for their prompt reports on the situation on the Crimean Peninsula, in particular on the socio-economic situation, the positions of Russian troops, the resistance movements to the occupation, etc. For more information, please send an e-mail to the press service of the Mission: [email protected].
Glory to Ukraine!
