President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko congratulated Ukrainians who celebrate Christmas according to Gregorian calendar. He reminded that just a few days ago the Ukrainians had celebrated the establishment of the independent local Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
“We have witnessed the birth of Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine and today Catholics and Protestants are gathered here. I want to thank you for your support in establishing of Ukrainian Church, independent from Moscow and recognized by world Orthodoxy”, noted Petro Poroshenko.
“We have no a state church and we never will. Instead, we have a real religious freedom, which we carefully protect. In the diversity of faiths we are united by Ukraine, belief, birth and resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ”, added President.
The Head of the State in his address to the Ukrainians pointed out: “Despite the enemy threatens us, despite the others want to subjugate our country and our people but we are not frightened”. “We are happy to be comforted and warmed by Jesus’ love”, said President and remembered the words of the Apostle Paul “If God is for us, who can ever be against us?”
“I believe we will definitely defeat evil and hatred with Jesus as Christ has been born and peace on earth. Christmas is a holiday of hope for better future, there is an air of mystery and family warmth. The God came to this world in the Bethlehem cave and started his earth’s way to save us”, noted Poroshenko.
“I wish you from the angels of joy, the shepherds, the surprise of the wise men – the Epiphany, but from born of the God of peace and love. Merry Christmas. God of peace and love. Merry Christmas and happy holidays!, wished Ukrainian President.
