On 26 November 2018 the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in ARC Borys Babin and the Chief Consultant of the Department of International Connections Valeria Pakhomova met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Norway to Ukraine Mr. Ole Terje Horpestad. In the cause of the meeting the issues concerning the visits to the temporarily occupied Crimea by the Norwegian citizens were discussed in the light of imitation of so-called “people’s diplomacy” in Crimea for the attempt of Crimea annexation to be “recognized” by the foreign states and international organizations.
The activity of the offices of the International Red Cross Committee in the temporarily occupied Crimea was discussed as well as the environmental disaster in the north of Crimea. Boris Babin informed about the aggressive actions, committed by Russia against Ukraine in the Azov and Black seas and Ukraine’s response to the gross violation of international law by the state-aggressor. He pointed out the need for the improvement of the national sanctions, synchronization of imposed sanctions and enhancing of international pressure on the state-aggressor.
The Permanent Representative highlighted the steps, undertaken by the Mission to establish and equip the administrative service centers in the settlements of Kherson region neighboring Crimea and stressed on the need of involvement the international technical assistance to resolve the pressed issues of Crimean residents. The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Norway to Ukraine expressed support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and condemned the violation of international law by Russia.
