On April, 6 the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine Borys Babin together with the Chief Consultant of the Department of International Connections of the Mission Valerya Pakhomova met with the Representative of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in Ukraine.
During the meeting it was discussed a great range of humanitarian issues, particularly the administrative services for the citizens of Ukraine who are residing or displacing from Crimea, birth, death and marriage registration for the Crimean residents in the mainland of Ukraine. The particular attention was paid to the activity of the UNHCR and the governmental bodies of Ukraine on the rights protection of the deported citizens from Crimea.
Borys Babin informed the Representative about the current activity of the Mission and its attempts made to establish and equip the Administrative Service Centers in the districts of Kherson region, adjacent to Crimea, as well as the deportees’ rights protection, particularly the IDPs’ and told about the amendments of the existing legislation on the issues of the Crimean people’s rights protection. It was stressed for the minimal equipment of the check points “Kalanchak” and “Chongar”. As the result the sides agreed to cooperate, mutually exchange of information in order to implement effectively the mandated tasks and discussed the upcoming visit of UNHCR delegation to Kherson region.
