“The Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court has already identified Russia’s involvement in the situation in Ukraine. In particular, the latest prosecutor’s report directly mentions the participation of the Russian military in the events in Crimea in February 2014, aimed at gaining control of the peninsula. It is also noted that, starting from March 18, 2014, the Russian Federation has been exercising control over Crimea.
Among the crimes, for which there are sufficient grounds to consider them committed, in the context of the occupation of Crimea are: premeditated murder, torture, unlawful deprivation of liberty, forcing to serve in the armed forces of an enemy state, intentional deprivation of the right to a fair trial, relocation of part of the population of the occupied territory outside that territory, etc.”, – Vsevolod Chentsov commented.
Ukraine first appealed to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague in 2014. 7 years of armed aggression have proved that Russia is not going to stop. For Ukraine, the ICC is a chance to punish and bring to justice the perpetrators of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed on the territory of Ukraine.
