On June 22, 2018 the political prisoner Volodymyr Balukh wrote an open letter to President of Ukraine where he expressed his confidence that Ukraine would defend its right to live and run things in dignity in the god blessed lands of Crimea and Donbas sooner than Kremlin cabal hoped and the facts of detention of another state’s citizens by them would have an important role to play in it.
As response President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko noted: “Nobody will beat the people who sing the Ukrainian anthem, even in the Kremlin’s prisons, despite prohibitions and under the threat of brutal punishment”. He thanked the unconquered Volodymyr Balukh for his letter, and even more so – for his courage, and pointed that we would continue the work on the release all of political prisoners of the Kremlin, we would continue to struggle for the liberation of all Ukrainian hostages held in the Russian Federation, as well as in the temporarily occupied Donbas and Crimea. We will not stop this fight. President of Ukraine stressed that he would do everything to bring closer the moment when he would be able to shake Ukrainian patriot’s hand, detained by the aggressor on the free Ukrainian land.
Here is a full text of the letter written by Volodymyr Balukh to President of Ukraine:
Dear Mr. President of Ukraine!
I am honored to be one of those whose release from the Moscow captivity is being struggled for by all Ukraine. The terror practice used by the authorities of 1/7 part of planet earth’s area, as it turns out, much more alive than all political “traditions” despite of the flag color over Kremlin.
But most of all I would like best of all to prevent Ukraine from falling back to the “mirror” reply to the aggressor’s actions.
There is no evil for good!
To my mind, once again Ukraine developing its statehood should to follow the best examples of Ukrainian Cossacks, traditional humanity and traditional peasant’s perseverance.
To be honest – I did not vote for You in May 2014, it happened, that you and I realized our right to vote at the same site in Kyiv. But I respectfully submit that relentless struggle for the fate of the citizens of Ukraine caught by the mindless hated “brother” is a great tribute to You!
Once one Russian poet said “ we should not predict what the outcome is”
I am conscious that Ukraine will defend its right to live and run thins in the God’s earths of Crimea and Donbas sooner than the Kremlin clique hopes and taken another state’s citizens as hostage’s is not helping.
It is significant that in June,12 – the day determined by the Kremlin as a day of “Rusia” when in Simferopol while the Chinese fireworks sounded through the prison’s windows it was heard friendly slogans “Glory Ukraine” and some prisoners sang Ukrainian anthem. It’s a whole truth told by the eyewitness of the events I happened to be and heard no cheering to commemorate the state.
In the half part of the last century the mankind was taught by the lesson when hesitation of one countries, disengagement of others and criminal greed of the third led to a great shock not only in the Old World but far beyond its measures.
Ukraine was drawn once more into hostile management. I sincerely hope that bitter experience of the history will unite all civilized world and provide the activity of the authority of the country with dedication and solidarity to prevent the recurrence of the bloodbath and to stop the uncontrolled aggressor despite the financial losses and some business inconveniences.
Being here it is difficult for me to assess objectively the completeness and efficiency of the actions by the state to counteract the Kremlin propaganda, its attitude to the citizens and the governments of other countries of the world, but Ukraine is not staying away and fills with optimism and faith the destroyed persons’ fates and abandoned families of the political detainees, but it was not in vain. Truth is with us! Fate is with us! And Saint Will! Glory to Ukraine!
Sincerely, Balukh V.I.
